September achivements

Wow. So this entry marks the one year anniversary of my achievement lists. Making these lists has helped me a lot with my frustration, feelings of helplessness, and ADHD/anxiety. These lists give me something to look back at and say “I did do things”. In the last year I have made serious progress towards living a happier and healthier life, filled with good friends, great family, dance, love, laughter, and a renewed sense of self. I have made tremendous progress in my graduate program. I have struggled with new and unexpected medical problems. I have lived a life I am happy with. Not everything is fantasy perfect, but screw that I like reality better. The list is below.

Disssssssertation

Stupid dissertation let me get my hopes up and then like a sadist beat me with the probability that I have to redo all my stats. URGH.

I’m going to cry now…and also never graduate…I shouldn’t have done this project. I ended up doing this crazy side project for the dissertation and now it is morphing into a lesson in writing R syntax that is way above my head. I mean I knew there would be some learning involved, but not about R syntax. My dissertation is out of control and I’m expected to finish in time to graduate in December…oh god….

"HOW IS YOUR RESEARCH GOING?"

I really want to do some vlog posts…but…I’m almost a professional academic and that would be…um bad…maybe

Donate blood!

Dear friends (especially those of you with few financial means),

We too can be a part of the great philanthropic movement that is sweeping the nation by donating blood and plasma. So long as you are a healthy adult who meets the eligibility criteria for the American Red Cross, go donate blood. This is a quick, safe, and immediate philanthropic effort. You will be saving lives, most especially after or during a holiday weekend. I challenge you all to donate your pint!

Thank you friends! Now marshall yourselves and donate!

— Nadya

Dear American Red Cross,

Don’t call me at 8pm from a local area code. Also don’t assume I can donate blood. Please rephrase your question to: are you eligible and willing to donate blood at this time? The answer is: I am willing, but I’m not eligible at this moment. I have told your schedulers several times that I have to get clearance from my doctors and that I will call to make an appointment. I haven’t forgotten you. No, I can’t donate money right now, I’m a grad student with 30,000$ in hospital bills. Please, I will call once I know that it is safe for me to donate again, so stop calling me.

Sincerely,
Nadya
